Slingshot founder Mark Bell, a former world-class powerlifter, had suffered repeated injuries from years of intense training, and developed the Slingshot bench press support to enable people to train using correct technique despite injuries and pain.
The Slingshot provides support at the bottom of your bench press range and, when used properly, can help prevent injury, improve your records, and increase your speed and endurance.
Using a slingshot reduces the strain on the shoulder joint, preventing shoulder injuries and allowing trainees with shoulder pain to bench press with proper form.
The Slingshot is designed to help you learn proper form for bench presses and push-ups.
Using the Slingshot allows you to overload your training with more reps, sets and weight, helping you increase strength, muscle mass and improve your bench press record.
・Rebound level 4.5
・Can handle weights 15% to 20% heavier than the maximum value for no gear
- Recommended for training with loads of 160kg or more
・Rebound level 5
・Can handle weights 15% to 25% heavier than the maximum weight without gear
- Recommended for training with loads of 185kg or more
Slingshot's bench press support can be used in four main ways:
Research has proven that progressive resistance training using chains and rubber bands is effective, but using this supporter makes progressive resistance training easier than using chains or bands and can be done anywhere.
Using a soft bench press supporter in situations such as high rep bench presses performed after lifting heavy weights, or sets performed with a bodybuilding-style focus on working the muscles, as if doing band bench or chain bench, is thought to be effective in increasing muscle mass and improving records.
When using it for this purpose, if the rebound strength of the bench press supporter is too strong or too weak for the set weight, the load will not increase appropriately, so it is necessary to choose one with an appropriate rebound strength in balance with the set weight.
If your maximum no-gear bench press weight is under 125kg, we generally recommend using the Slingshot Push-up or Reactive Slingshot. Even for trainees with a maximum weight over 125kg, we still recommend first using the Reactive Slingshot to get your body used to it, and then moving on to the Original Slingshot or Full Bore Slingshot if you feel that the rebound strength of the bench press support is weak and the load is not increasing appropriately.A special use is that it can be used as a substitute for a gear called a bench shirt when practicing full gear bench press.
Bench shirts are expensive and difficult to put on and take off, so they are not something you can casually use in your regular training, but by using Slingshot's bench press supporter you can practice full gear bench press relatively easily.
For this purpose, a high-resilience bench press supporter similar to a bench shirt, such as the Full Bore Slingshot or Mad Dog Slingshot, would be suitable. The official US Slingshot website offers a free bench press training program using the Slingshot.
